Southwold Public School
2025-2026 Safe and Inclusive School Plan
Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.
Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.
The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
Key Priorities and Goals
This year we continue to focus on developing effective conflict resolution skills amongst our students at Southwold P.S.
We are doing this so that our students have the tools and strategies to deal with conflict and build healthy relationships.
Key Actions or Strategies
- Establishing a "One Rule: Respect" to promote a shared language school-wide. Students will develop a clear understanding of what it means to show respect for themselves, for others, and for their school environment, empowering them to make positive choices and effectively navigate or prevent conflict.
- Engaging our students in community circles on a regular basis as well as using the Restorative Practices approach to proactively and responsively model effective conflict resolution skills and foster healthy relationships.
- Building healthy relationships – hosting school wide initiatives/projects for all students to participate in to feel connected as a school community, with a focus on cross-divisional pairings.
- Regularly engaging our students in explicit instruction in the area of social-emotional literacy to help students understand their own emotions, thoughts and actions.
Community and Home Connections
- Ask your child about community circles.
- Encourage your child to use the conflict resolution skills they are learning about at school.
